Birmingham Medical Leadership Society (BMLS) was created by an innovative group of medical students in 2013. Since then, we have been growing exponentially as a society to support budding entrepreneurs and medical leaders of tomorrow! In recognition of our hard work this year, despite the cruelty and difficulty of running events during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud to have won the MedSoc Society of the Year award 2020/21!!
Highlights from this year include an Instagram Live/Zoom interactive series from a host of amazing speakers including academics, healthcare leaders, business specialists and med tech enthusiasts! This included Malone Mukwende (creator of Mind the Gap handbook of dermatology and featured in Time magazine) and even YouTube sensation Dr Ali Abdaal to name but a few!!! Topics ranged from increasing diversity within the medical school curriculum, how to start a business and how to get involved in research and applying for the Academic Foundation Programme!
In addition, we were once again proud to host our annual International Future of Medicine & Surgery conference which was once again a huge success!!!
