Men’s Rugby

Established in 1958, the University of Birmingham Medical School RFC prides itself as being one of the strongest medical teams in the country. Twice National Medical School Champions and twice champions of the Brum Varsity beating the University of Birmingham 1st XV, it is the obvious choice for anyone wanting to play rugby at the University of Birmingham. In the most recent 2020/21 season the club continued to improve despite the pandemic, finishing the season with a narrow loss against the uni leavers in a joint game with mecheng to form the UOB barbarians.

The 2nd XV or ‘Airsharks’ has also gone from strength to strength in recent years beating the University 3rd XV, the University Freshers and numerous medical schools’ 1st XVs. All whilst fielding players of a range of abilities from School 1st XV and Academy players to players never to have played the game before university.

Along with our activity on the pitch, we also boast a large social aspect to the club. With weekly socials, and supporters trips to all our games whether you play rugby or not this may be the club for you!
